Identifying water damage and mould growth usually requires remediation. Unfortunately, professional and competent remediation is often elusive, and the homeowner must manage the project themselves unless they are prepared to engage an independent site foreman.
This isn’t as daunting as it may seem not least when you realise, you’re the person who is paying and will be affected if it isn’t done right.
Most builders are capable of demolition, but few realise the significant health risks from the contamination released during their works
So often they spread dust sheets around in the false belief the contamination will magically fall only on the sheets.
They also think the sheets are only there to protect the furniture underneath. Dust sheets should not be necessary at all and critical barriers should be installed to contain the work areas and any contamination released.
